On The Easel
At any given time Patrick may be working on a dozen paintings in various stages of completion.  Each painting can have 7 or 8 layers of paint and each layer must dry for about 3 weeks before it can be worked on again.

    This 36"x48" canvas is prepared with a foundation of black gesso, paper residue and an oil was with gold goache accents. The plan is to add thin layers to create depth of field for this abstract landscape composition.

    This 48" square canvas has deep tones that will be layered to allow hints of the underpainting to be revealed.

    Based on a larger painting, this commission will include tones of eggplant and olive with subsequent layers to create an overall "dreamy" landscape composition.
